The Program Manager will work in partnership with the Operations and Content teams, to support the mission of dramatically improving STEM education through improved teaching and transforming participating NYC schools into centers of college readiness. An understanding and commitment to NMSI’s mission, the goals of the AP for ALL program, leadership skills, event and project management and ability to remain organized while in motion are critical for success in this role. The ability to speak compellingly about our work, an understanding of the education reform movement and developing deep content knowledge in key organizational initiatives is also required.

Essential Functions

  • Support high school administrators and educators to increase program AP enrollment and results
  • Use data and content expertise to help drive instruction, teacher selection and increases in enrollment and performance in program AP courses
  • Build and manage strong relationships with NYC-DOE AP for ALL staff, NYC educators, and NYC administrators in AP for ALL schools or prospective schools
  • Coordinate, prepare, execute, schedule, maintain and report on all AP for ALL activities and transactions in the schools assigned by the Director, Programs - Northeast
  • Assist in content/instructional supervision of student facing events: Student Study Sessions and Student Summer Enrichment
  • Assist NMSI Content Team in providing quality assurance of presenters at AP for ALL AP Summer Institutes, Content Workshops, Spring/Mock Trainings and LTF Trainings
  • Coaches, supports and monitors AP for ALL mentors in collaboration with NMSI Content Team
  • Identifies content and instruction issues that impede program success and makes recommendations to the Director, Programs – Northeast and NMSI Content Team on corrective interventions/support
  • Supports LTF implementation through area meetings and support with school-based AP for ALL LTF “Leads”
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related content area (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum four years of teaching experience; AP Calculus or AP Statistics teaching experience required
  • Administrator/Coordinator experience is preferred
  • Experience developing and/or facilitating professional development events is preferred
  • Curriculum development experience is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to authentically connect with diverse constituencies
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with an appetite for collaboration
  • Skill in navigating complex environments toward positive outcomes
  • Highly organized with extreme attention to detail, accuracy and problem solving in a fast paced environment
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is preferred
