This position is primarily responsible for providing expertise to acquire, manage, manipulate and analyze data and report results. In addition, the position will complete projects that require data mining, analysis and the development of graphs, charts and tables, as requested. The Data Analyst will continuously seek to increase cost efficiencies of the program and develop policies and procedures to streamline data collection. Excellent communication and time management skills are a must and an extreme commitment to high-quality service is required.

Essential Functions

  • Business Queries – research and develop ad hoc and timely queries to support business needs; evaluate data and generate reports from various sources
  • Business Requirements – work collaboratively with NMSI business units to define, document, create, test and implement new BI solutions
  • Data Integrity – work with NMSI Data Base Administrator to continuously improve data quality and integrity – “single source of truth”
  • Create and maintain necessary BI “Business Intelligence” reports available anywhere, anytime, any device
  • Train and educate the business on existing and new BI reporting features
  • Continually research and recommend new business reporting capabilities and products to leverage new visual displays, formats and end user capabilities
  • Recommend and execute data analysis to support current and future business needs
  • Collaborate with others, develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum – Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields
  • Flexible interpersonal skills to balance leading and seeking input in translating vision and strategy into tactical plans and actions
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and the development of cost efficient processes
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to trouble shoot and problem solve for the unexpected situation
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze and distribute data
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills
  • Superior skills with Excel, Word and Outlook; SQL database experience and BI tools
  • Experience with data extraction and manipulation tools
  • Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required
  • Friendly, courteous, service-oriented, professional, outgoing, and customer service oriented
  • Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision
