Staples Foundation Scholarship

Thanks to Staples 2 Million & Change grant, National Math and Science Initiative can offer two scholarships for NMSI Teacher Training.

Award: A scholarship* to attend the NMSI Teacher Training Program (formerly LTF) Summer Institute of your choice. Training must be completed by September 1, 2013. Recipients will be notified by April 30, 2013. 

*The scholarship is for training fees; travel costs are not included and must be assumed by the applicant.

Eligibility: To be eligible for this scholarship, you must
• Be a teacher of record in a math, science, or English classroom
• Have completed at least one year of NMSI Teacher Training (formerly LTF)
• Have used lessons from NMSI Teacher Training in the classroom

How to Apply:
• Fill out the attached application – answer questions as completely as possible; there is no page limit.
• Attach a sample lesson, activity, lab, or unit from NMSI Teacher Training that you have incorporated into your classroom including:
            o Lesson plan(s)
            o A reflection on how it went including how students responded, what went well, and what you would change if/when you do it again
            o Student work samples, if available
• Email the above items to Taylor Bunn at tbunn@ltf.co no later than March 31, 2013.

Award Recipients are Expected to:
• Attend a NMSI Teacher Training four-day Summer Institute by September 1, 2013 for Year 2 or Year 3
• Show evidence of continued use of NMSI Teacher Training strategies by submitting lesson plans, a reflection on the activities, student work samples, and, if possible, a short video showing the activities in action for at least two (2) NMSI lessons or labs completed during the 2013 – 2014 school year; this can be accomplished by completing a Pathbrite portfolio: www.pathbrite.com 
• Participate in the online NMSI Teacher Forum
• Sign a release allowing NMSI to feature recipient in promotional materials
