Solve the Problem, Win a Million

Teachers, do you think your math skills are worth a million dollars? Well, you can put them to the test by solving the Beal Conjecture, a mathematical problem that has confounded expert mathematicians since the 1980’s. The $1 million “Beal Prize” originally started out at the paltry sum of $5,000, funded by Andrew Beal; but, as the years have progressed, so has the prize money increased into the sizeable amount it is today.

If there were ever a time to put your thinking caps on, that time is now!

BEAL'S CONJECTURE: If Ax +By = Cz, where A, B, C, x, y and z are positive integers and x, y and z are all greater than 2, then A, B and C must have a common prime factor.

Get thinking, teachers – and good luck!
