Teacher Training Reimbursement Available in Texas

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has confirmed they have money to reimburse teacher training expenses this year – and the legislature is expected to increase teacher training funding for next year! The TEA will fund teacher training reimbursements up to $450 per eligible teacher. Teachers must complete an 18-hour or longer TEA-approved IB training, or a 24-hour or longer TEA-approved Pre-AP or AP training program – like NMSI’s AP Program! This is a great opportunity to get more teachers from your district registered for training - at a much lower rate.

NMSI’s Teacher Training is available in 8 locations in Texas this summer! Science, math, and English teacher training is essential to prepare students for a successful and challenging career. Teachers can expect hands-on training, classroom-ready lessons you can implement immediately in the classroom, and ongoing support from expert teachers.

The cost for NMSI’s  4-day teacher training, covering 4 modules plus 14 months access of online resources (which includes hundreds of lessons, labs, classroom activities, formative assessments, and much more), is $595/teacher.

So, wondering what makes a teacher eligible for TEA’s teacher training reimbursement? Teachers who teach AP or IB courses at any grade level, or teachers of grades 6-11 who teach a course that is:
•Deeper and more complex than the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) requirements
•Rigorous enough to ensure student success in AP or IB courses
•Part of a vertically aligned course system that ends with a particular AP or IB course

The application will be available to teachers on the TEA website within the next couple weeks. You can find more detailed information on TEA’s website along with a TEA contact.
