UTEACH #35! Old Dominion University

We are very excited with the progress of the UTeach program that recruits and prepares mathematics and science majors to become great math and science teachers.  They still graduate with a BS or BA in subject but go into the classroom early and often so that they are prepared to teach.  NMSI has been working with UTeach to expand this program from the original UT program to the 35 universities it is in now.  Great news - from the UTeach Institute site -
Old Dominion University Joins National UTeach Effort

The addition of Old Dominion University brings the total number of universities implementing the UTeach secondary STEM teacher preparation program to 35, including the founding program at The University of Texas at Austin.
Old Dominion University is the latest university initiating a UTeach program in order to increase the number of high-quality secondary STEM teachers. Virginia Governor McDonnell, supported by the Virginia General Assembly, proposed funding to begin a systemic reform effort in mathematics and science teacher education in the state. Old Dominion University was selected in a competitive process to receive funding to begin implementing the UTeach program model. Read Virginia Governor Mcdonnell’s press release here.
