Elevating STEM Access and Teacher Support in Dallas ISD

By
National Math and Science Initative

"Districts are having a lot of difficulties these days. They're seeing math scores at state and district levels and science scores, and they're not where we need to be for growing the future STEM economy. And if I'm a district leader, I really want to figure out how do I build a culture of success around math and science that can help every student, especially those students furthest from opportunity, really be able to see themselves in a position like that for a career."

-NMSI CEO, Jeremy Anderson

Dallas Independent School District faced a few different challenges that NMSI was committed to addressing and helping solve:

Gaps in student access to rigorous math and science courses
A need for teacher training that goes beyond compliance and builds capacity
Disconnected STEM efforts across grade levels and campuses

Leaders were seeking a partner to help the district transition from isolated initiatives to a district-wide strategy grounded in equity and STEM student identity. NMSI collaborated with Dallas ISD to co-create a phased scalable solution.
