BEL AIR, MD — Two high schools in Bel Air will launch a program designed to bolster STEM skills, according to Harford County Public Schools Superintendent Sean Bulson.
Bel Air and C. Milton Wright are launching a two-year college readiness program in partnership with the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI), Bulson announced at Monday's Board of Education meeting.
More than 250 schools nationwide have participated in NMSI, which partners with those that are "military connected," according to a statement from Harford County Public Schools.
"After a year in NMSI, students average about a 45 percent increase in mastery of college-level concepts in math and science," versus a 5.6 percent increase that is the national average, Bulson said.
