Georgia Senator, Fort Benning Garrison Commander and Muscogee Superintendent to Announce Up to $414,000 Awarded For National STEM Program

Leadership from the Georgia Senate, Fort Benning and Muscogee County School District will announce a new partnership with an evidence-based, rigorous national STEM program. This is thanks to up to $414,000 grant funding from the U.S. Department of Defense.  The grant amount is based on the number of students and teachers who participate and other factors. The launch event, which includes military families and students, is for a two-year College Readiness Program from the National Math and Science Initiative that’s being implemented at Northside and Shaw high schools.  As a nonprofit whose mission is to advance STEM education so all students, especially those furthest from opportunity, can reach their highest potential, NMSI has served more than 250 U.S. schools that have significant enrollment among military-connected students.
